The Garmin fenix 9 Pro Solar trades the AMOLED screen for a memory-in-pixel display under a Power Sapphire lens, which harvests light all day and stretches battery life well past what a bright screen allows. It runs up to 21 days in smartwatch mode on the 47 mm and 30 days on the 51 mm before solar input is counted, and daylight riding pushes those figures further. The titanium case carries the same nano-molded construction as the rest of the Pro line, with a sapphire-grade lens, integrated LED flashlight, and 10 ATM water rating.

The trade is deliberate. A memory-in-pixel panel is dimmer and lower resolution than AMOLED, and it is also far easier to read in direct sun and far cheaper to keep lit, which is why expedition riders keep choosing it.
