What is the Lake MTB Toe Spike Kit built for?

The Lake Cycling MTB Toe Spike Kit restores grip to your Lake mountain bike shoes when the ground turns soft, muddy, snowy, or icy. The kit threads replaceable spikes into the pre-installed metal inserts on the toe of compatible Lake MTB shoes, giving you real bite on hike-a-bike sections, cyclocross run-ups, and slick technical terrain where a smooth outsole would slide. It includes the spikes and the wrench needed to install them, so you can swap them at home in a couple of minutes with no trip to the shop.

Compatibility matters here, so check before you order. The spikes fit most Lake MTB models including the MX1, MX1C, MX218 and MX219, MX237, MX238 and MX239, and MX241 and MX242, among others. They do not fit the MX332 Lite, and the MX177 in sizes 36 to 38 does not accept spikes. We keep these on the shelf for our own team's cyclocross and winter riders, so if you are unsure whether your shoes are drilled for spikes, bring them by and we will check the inserts for you.
