How Do the Look KEO 2 Max Vision Pedals Keep You Visible?

Look took the KEO 2 Max, the pedal you see on Gran Fondo start lines worldwide, and built a rear light into each one. The Vision module puts out up to 60 lumens across a 180 degree beam angle, which Look rates as visible from a kilometer away in full daylight. The reasoning behind putting them down at your feet is worth knowing: a Clemson University study found that lights moving with a rider's heels made them roughly five and a half times more noticeable to drivers than a static seatpost light. Motion is what catches the eye.

Underneath the lights it is still a KEO 2 Max. A 500 mm2 stainless steel contact plate, an oversized Chromoly+ spindle, and retention adjustable from 8 to 12 so you can tune the click and the release. The lights run up to 40 hours, recharge over USB-C in about two hours, and carry an IPX7 waterproof rating. Start and Stop drops them into standby after 30 seconds of stillness and wakes them the moment you pedal again, so you are not thinking about switches at every light.
