The Shimano Altus SL-M315-7R is a 7-speed Rapidfire Plus right trigger shifter for flat-bar MTB and hybrid drivetrains, sold as a right-side unit for rear derailleur control. Rapidfire Plus uses a two-lever trigger system where the index finger pulls the release lever for upshifts and the thumb pushes the main lever for downshifts, allowing up to three gears in a single thumb stroke without repositioning the hand. This gives more precise, confident gear selection than twist shifters, especially on technical terrain. The built-in optical gear display shows the current rear gear position at a glance without needing to count clicks.
