What Is the Shimano EW-SD300 Di2 eTube Wire 650mm Used For?

The EW-SD300 650mm is the shorter standard-length E-Tube wire for Shimano's current 12-speed Di2 systems, suited for compact frame routing paths, smaller frame sizes, or connection runs that do not require a full 1200mm reach. It is commonly used for the run between the BT-DN300 battery port and the rear derailleur in smaller road frames, or for shorter front-end routing segments where the SD300 connector interface is required. Like all SD300 wiring, it is specific to 12-speed Di2, meaning Dura-Ace R9250 and Ultegra R8150, and cannot be used with the SD50 wiring standard found in older 11-speed Di2 systems.

The compact connector design of the SD300 wire series routes more cleanly through tight internal frame channels than the previous SD50 generation, with a reduced-diameter cable body that eases threading through ports and guides. For builders who have already confirmed their frame's routing length requirements, the 650mm wire is the appropriate choice when the path from battery to derailleur or junction point measures under that length. The 1200mm version is available separately for larger frames. As with all Di2 system components, all connected components must run matching firmware, managed via the Shimano E-TUBE Project app.
