The M70R2 Severe compound is 1mm thicker than the standard M70R2 formulation, delivering more material and longer service life in muddy, wet, or sustained braking conditions where pads see accelerated wear. Deep in-cut grooves in the pad face channel water and debris away from the braking surface for more consistent friction in all conditions, and the compound curvature maximizes rim contact across the pad's full face.

The M70R2 Severe is a cartridge-style replacement insert that threads into existing Shimano cartridge shoe holders already mounted on the brake arm.
