Shimano's lightest ever machined chainring in the XTR SM-CRM96

The Shimano XTR SM-CRM96 Direct Mount Chainring in 38T for 12-speed drivetrains is the lightest machined chainring Shimano has built, and it carries the XTR M9200 generation's chain retention with it. Shimano's Dynamic Chain Engagement+ tooth profile is designed for single ring setups in XC, enduro, and trail riding, giving stronger chain retention and smoother pedaling over bumpy ground. The reinforced construction is impact resistant, so a rock strike does not end your day. At 38T this is the largest ring Shimano offers in the range, which puts it with riders chasing top end speed on faster, flatter trail.

The ring mounts directly to the XTR FC-M9200 and FC-M9220 cranksets and holds the 55mm chain line those cranks use, which is what gives them wide frame compatibility. It runs Shimano's 12-speed HG chain, whose extended inner plate ends are built to work with the Dynamic Chain Engagement+ profile for quieter running and stronger retention.
