What does the SRAM Eagle PowerLock Link do and when do you need it?

The SRAM Eagle PowerLock Link is the master link for all SRAM 12-speed Eagle chains — it connects the chain ends for tool-free installation and allows removal without a chain breaker for service and cleaning. The PowerLock design snaps closed under chain tension and locks securely during pedaling, but releases when you compress the two link halves together with chain link pliers, making it far more practical for regular chain maintenance than a traditional riveted connection. This card of four gives you enough links to stock through multiple chain replacements on one bike or handle several builds without running short. Each link is single-use — once removed, replace it with a fresh PowerLock rather than reinstalling the old one.

Compatible with all SRAM 12-speed Eagle chains including NX Eagle, GX Eagle, X01 Eagle, and XX1 Eagle. If you are running an Eagle T-Type Transmission drivetrain with a Flattop chain, you need the T-Type PowerLock Flattop Connector Link instead — standard Eagle PowerLocks are not the correct connector for Flattop chains. For standard (non-T-Type) Eagle builds, this is the link your chain ships with and the correct replacement when you pull the chain for service. Keep a card in your tool kit — it is the most consistently needed small part on any 1x12 Eagle bike.
