Pay it FWD!
Pay it forward: is an expression for describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original benefactor. The simplest way to define “pay it forward” is that when someone does something for you, instead of paying that person back directly, you pass it on to another person instead.
There are not too many things in life that put a bigger smile on our faces than cycling! No matter what kind of cyclist you are, cycling is just one of those activities that yields gratification, happiness, and a sense of self accomplishment. Knowing what a bike has done for you, just imagine what one can do for so many other people out there who have not experienced the laundry list of cycling virtues. It’s my opinion that we should nurture this feeling and propagate the cycling culture by paying it forward. This can be done many different ways and here is how we plan to do out part:
- Do you have an old bike that has been hanging in your garage years? Donate it! Bring it to DCL and we will polish and tune the bike, ensure that it is road/trail worthy, and put the bike in the hands of a worthy individual. This works great with kids bikes! What a great way to build the future of cycling!
- Got spare parts? Bring them by DCL and donate them to the “bone yard!” Who knows, you might need a part some day and this just might be your solution.
- Check back to learn more about our annual fund raiser events. Our charity rides help raise money to buy bikes for kids in need at Christmas time!
