ABOUT:
Jay credits the path to cycling to his wife Crystal, who was an avid cyclist when they met over 25 years ago. Since then, cycling has held a dominant role in everyday life. While living in the MidWest in the late 90s Jay raced under USCF for the Tulsa Wheelmen and was the president of that club for 1 year. Career and family pursuits tabled racing for a few years. Though he never raced the sport, it was the huge popularity of cyclocross in the PNW that renewed the idea of racing again. So, when DCT reached out looking for riders, he couldn’t pass it up. He says one important thing he learned from the first few years of racing is to keep it fun. Race at the level that supports the time you have to train.
When not riding Jay works as an optical engineer developing lasers used all over the world–some of them making cool bicycling products. He developed his own cycling product, DriBarz, that he markets through a company by the same name. Other recreations takes form in photography and videography, with bike racing remaining a subject favorite.
