JOHN HATFIELD
John grew up in Santa Cruz, California and moved to Oregon in 1995. He began cycling to school at about age eight and hasn’t stopped since. In his mid-20s he met his wife Lisa while training for and competing in local triathlons. He moved into full-time bike racing several years later.
John enjoys playing the piano (classical and blues), reading good works of fiction, and teaching his daughter the basics of bike maintenance.
John has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. He co-founded a software company in Lake Oswego that provides engineering solutions for manufacturers of integrated circuits. He and Lisa married in 1999, and they have one daughter, Yunji, who was born in 2007.
