SILCA worked with a renowned Italian sock maker and custom knitting machinery to combine a smooth frontal surface, where airflow stays laminar, with three rows of turbulators placed just ahead of the flow-separation zone. Those turbulators energize the boundary layer and keep airflow attached further around the leg, which shrinks the pressure wake behind it. Less wake means less drag: SILCA measured a 4 to 8 watt reduction at 30 to 45kph versus a standard sock, matching ribbed lycra socks of the same height. The 19.5cm cuff sits right at the UCI limit, putting the textured surface where it does the most work.

They are knit from Q-Skin, a silver-ion-infused polyamide that is anti-bacterial, odor resistant, and softer with better moisture control than the yarns normally used for socks, with no toe seam for all-day comfort.
