We celebrate every achievement, from the fastest sprint to the most graceful dismount. Remembering My First Time Trial Experience I recall my first time trial. I was jittery, nervous, and excited all at once as not only was it my first time trial, it was my first ever road race. I prepared as best as I could, staged up at the start, the countdown from 5 seconds out started, I took a deep breath as everything went quite except for the 4, 3, 2, 1… Bam! It was go time and off I went. But as I started pedaling, something magical happened – I was no longer just a participant in my first road race; I was part of an exhilarating dance that required balancing speed, power output, heart rate management, and focus on energy levels. I was in cycling nerd heaven! I knew what I was capable of, I knew the numbers I needed to watch on my computer, and I knew exactly how much more I had to go. Minutes felt like seconds, I used other riders on course as rabbits to chase, I did my best to cheat the wind, and I could not help smiling as I was able to catch a few riders who started before me. Yes, we were all competing against each other, but the camaraderie, the cheering, and the spirt was alive and well with everyone. “Great job!” “Get some!” “Lookin’ fast!” We all encouraged one another, and just like that, it was down to the last 1K. Was it painful? Yep, but I loved every second of it. If it wasn’t hard, I wasn’t doing it right, and I knew I wasn’t going to leave anything out there. At 200m out it was time to empty the tanks of any and all watts my body had left to give. My front wheel rolled over that white line and the sense of accomplishment slowly overtook the pain of 20k and the indescribable sensation of turning yourself inside out in that last 200m – it was done and I had nothing left to give. Mission accomplished. As it turns out, I did better than I was anticipating – 2nd place overall in the Open Eddy Category, which is a category where you are required to ride a road bike with no aero bars, skinsuits, aero helmets, or deep dish aero wheels. I love this category for so many reasons, and if you are interested in doing a TT and don’t want to go all in on a TT setup (yet), go experience what I did – It’s a blast! Embrace the Race, No Matter the Pace Let’s be real – not everyone can be the leader of the pack, and that’s perfectly fine. This event is about soaking in the joy of the ride that just so happens to be a race. It’s about chuckling at the starting line nerves, sharing a triumphant smile at the finish, and the amusing tales you’ll tell afterward. Whether you’re as speedy as a hare or steady like a tortoise, there’s joy in every journey. Need Help Preparing? Bone Conduction Headphones – A Cyclist’s Best Friend? Riding to the Beat of a Safer Tune Bone Conduction Headphones – The Sound of Safety “Cycling is my therapy and music is my therapist. Together, they barely keep me sane.“ Why Bone Conduction? First things first, let’s demystify bone conduction technology. Imagine a world where sound travels through your cheekbones! Yes, you read that right. Instead of traditional headphones that send sound through your ear canals, bone conduction headphones like Shokz transmit sound through the bones in your head. Sci-fi? More like sci-fact! Safety – Hear Your Surroundings When you’re cycling, awareness is key. Traditional in-ear headphones can create a sensory bubble, cutting you off from the world. That’s not just inconvenient; it’s downright dangerous. Bone conduction headphones, on the other hand, keep your ears open to ambient sounds. You can hear that car honking, the pedestrian shouting, or the fellow cyclist ringing their bell. It’s like having your cake and eating it too – enjoy your music without sacrificing your safety. Comfort – Say Goodbye to Ear Pain We’ve all been there – after a long ride, your ears feel like they’ve been in a boxing match with your headphones. Ouch! Bone conduction headphones, with their over-the-ear design, say goodbye to in-ear discomfort. They sit comfortably on your temples, making you almost forget they’re there. Ideal for those long, scenic rides where comfort is as important as the view. Sweat-Proof Cycling is a workout, and with workouts come the inevitable – sweat. Traditional headphones can slip, slide, or even become a hygiene horror. Bone conduction headphones like Shokz are typically designed to be sweat-proof. They stay put, letting you focus on your ride, not on keeping your tech in place. Not Just for Cycling While we’ve been harping on about cycling, bone conduction headphones are not a one-trick pony. They’re versatile, and here’s why they’re fantastic even when you’re not in the saddle. Multi-tasking Mastery Walking your dog while catching up on an audiobook? Check. Listening to a podcast (put the Dialed Podcast on your list!!) while grocery shopping? Double check. Bone conduction headphones allow you to stay connected to your environment while enjoying your audio. It’s like having a superpower where you can enjoy two worlds simultaneously! Hearing Health Traditional headphones can contribute to hearing loss, especially at high volumes. Bone conduction headphones reduce the risk as they bypass the eardrum. It’s a win for your tunes and a win for your ears. Accessibility For those with hearing impairments, bone conduction headphones can be a game-changer. They bypass typical auditory pathways, offering a way to experience sound that might otherwise be challenging. Hygiene – The Immaculate Charm of Bone Conduction Headphones Bone conduction headphones offer notable hygiene benefits over traditional earbuds, primarily due to their unique design that bypasses the ear canal. Unlike earbuds that are inserted directly into the ear accumulating earwax and sweat, potentially leading to ear infections or irritation, bone conduction headphones sit outside the ear. This design significantly reduces the risk of ear infections and other hygiene-related issues. Moreover, since they don’t require frequent insertion and removal from the ears, the chances of transferring bacteria or dirt from the hands to the ears are markedly diminished. The over-the-ear design also means less skin contact, reducing the likelihood of irritation that can sometimes be caused by in-ear headphones. Additionally, many bone conduction models are built with sweat-resistant materials, further enhancing their hygienic appeal, especially for active users or those using them during workouts. This aspect of hygiene, combined with comfort and the absence of in-ear pressure, makes bone conduction headphones a more sanitary and skin-friendly choice for prolonged use. Plus, you don’t have a pair of ear buds full of ear way… gross! So, what are the downsides? Bone conduction headphones, like any technology, come with their own set of drawbacks. Here are some of the notable cons: Sound Quality: While bone conduction technology is innovative, it often can’t match the sound quality of traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones. The bass response, in particular, tends to be weaker, and overall audio fidelity might not be as rich or immersive. This is not to say they don’t sound good because they have incredible sound, but there is a difference worth noting when comparing to some of the more high-end in-ear headphones available on the market today. Volume Limitations: Due to their design, bone conduction headphones might not get as loud as some users might prefer, especially in noisy environments liker when you’re blazing down the road at 25+ mph. This can be a drawback for those who are used to the sound isolation and higher volume capabilities of traditional headphones. Vibration Sensation: Since these headphones work by vibrating against your cheekbones, they can create a slight vibration sensation, particularly at higher volumes. Some users might find this distracting, but do know that it can be mitigated by lowering the volume ever so slightly. Battery Life: While this varies by model, bone conduction headphones typically have shorter battery life compared to traditional wireless headphones. This means more frequent charging, which can be inconvenient for heavy users. There are some models that last for 8+ hours, so make sure to get the model that best suits your needs. Price: Bone conduction headphones can be a bit more expensive than standard headphones. Limited Noise Isolation: While the open-ear design is beneficial for situational awareness, it also means that these headphones don’t offer noise isolation. This can be a downside in environments where you want to block out external noise. Understanding these limitations is crucial for making an informed decision about whether bone conduction headphones are the right choice for your needs and preferences. Choosing Your Shokz Now, let’s talk specifics. Shokz has a range of models, each with its own set of features. When choosing, consider battery life, weight, and additional features like Bluetooth connectivity or water resistance. It’s like picking a bike – what suits your ride style? The Final Take In the end, cycling with Shokz bone conduction headphones is about blending safety with pleasure. You keep your ears open to the world while enjoying your favorite beats or podcasts. It’s a harmony of safety and enjoyment that traditional headphones struggle to match. So, there you have it, a melody of reasons why bone conduction headphones are the unsung heroes for cyclists wanting to jam out on their rides. They keep us safe, comfortable, and connected – both on and off the bike. Now, if we could just get them to solve that perpetual invisible headwind, life would be grand. Ride safe, stay aware, and let the good tunes roll! Interested in getting some Shokz? We carry them all because we love them and think you will, too!
Read MoreLighten Up Your Ride: The Whys and Wows of Carbon Seatposts and Handlebars
The Whys and Wows of Carbon Seatposts and Handlebars Hey, you ride bikes, which makes you awesome! This probably means that you also have an awesome bike that could use some sweet upgrades, right? Are you looking to give your trusty steed a high-tech makeover? Let’s talk about swapping out those old metal parts for something a bit more enjoyable. Yes, we’re diving into the world of carbon seatposts and handlebars! Before you scoff and say, “It’s just a bike, not a spaceship,” hear us out. The perks of upgrading to carbon components go beyond mere talk; they’re a solid options that is as tangible and significant as carbon itself. Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board: The Weight Advantage First things first, carbon fiber is like the diet plan of the bike world. It’s all about shedding those extra grams. With carbon handlebars and seatposts, you’re basically turning your bike into a featherweight champion. Perfect for those who like their rides light and zippy – or anyone who’s had to carry their bike up five flights of stairs. Smooth Sailing on Bumpy Roads: Vibration Damping Ever felt like you’ve gone a few rounds with a jackhammer after a long ride? Carbon to the rescue! This wonder material is like a built-in shock absorber, soaking up those road vibrations better than a sponge in a rainstorm. Your hands and backside will thank you. Flexing Those Carbon Muscles: Stiffness and Strength Don’t let the lightweight fool you – carbon is as tough as they come. It’s like the bodybuilder of bike materials, offering a stiffness that ensures your pedaling power isn’t wasted on wobbly parts. This means more speed and efficiency, and who doesn’t want that? Shape Shifter: Customization and Tunability Carbon is not just strong and light; it’s also the fashionista of the bike world. It can be molded into any shape, allowing for aerodynamic designs and targeted flex zones. Whether you’re looking for speed or comfort, there’s a carbon shape to suit your style. Lookin’ Good: Aesthetic Appeal Speaking of style, carbon components have that sleek, modern look that can make any bike look like it’s worth a million bucks. It’s the equivalent of putting on a tailored suit or a little black dress – instantly chic! The Long Haul: Longevity and Durability Carbon doesn’t fatigue or rust, making it a trusty companion for the long haul. Just treat it right (no hurling it off cliffs, please) and it’ll be a loyal part of your cycling adventures for years to come. So, what are the downsides to carbon seatposts and handlebars? While carbon seatposts and handlebars offer several advantages, there are also some downsides to consider: Cost: Carbon fiber bike components are generally more expensive than their aluminum or steel counterparts. The high price can be a barrier for those on a budget or those who do not want to invest heavily in their cycling gear. Impact Sensitivity: Carbon fiber can be less durable upon impact compared to metals. A strong impact, such as from a crash or if the bike sustains a substantial impact, can cause the carbon to crack or fracture, which might not be immediately visible and could lead to sudden failure during use. Torque Sensitivity: When installing carbon components, it’s crucial to use the correct torque. Over-tightening can cause crushing or cracking, while under-tightening can lead to slippage. This requires careful attention and a special torque wrench. Limited Repairability: If a carbon component is damaged, it can be difficult or impossible to repair, often necessitating complete replacement. In contrast, metals can sometimes be bent back into shape or welded. UV Sensitivity: Some carbon components can be sensitive to ultraviolet light, which can degrade the resin over time. This necessitates careful storage and maintenance, as well as the use of UV-protective finishes by the manufacturer. Compatibility Issues: Not all parts and accessories are compatible with carbon components. For instance, certain clamps, racks, or mounts might not be suitable for use with carbon handlebars or seatposts. Specialized Maintenance: Carbon components require specialized maintenance products, such as carbon assembly compounds to prevent slipping without damaging the material. Understanding these drawbacks is important when deciding whether to upgrade to carbon components. For many riders, the benefits outweigh these cons, but it ultimately depends on individual needs, riding style, and budget. Are Carbon Seatposts and Handlebars for you? So, there you have it – the lowdown on why carbon seatposts and handlebars are the upgrade your bike didn’t know it needed. Sure, they might cost a bit more than traditional materials, but think of it as an investment in speed, comfort, and style. Plus, you’ll have bragging rights at your next group ride. If this sounds like something that is right up your alley, let’s talk! We work with some great brands like Zipp, Enve, and Easton and would would be happy to help you find the perfect fit your you. In the meantime, get out there and enjoy the ride!

It’s like having a pair of stealthy blade that help you glide faster with the same effort thanks to the engineering that greatly reduces wind resistance. It’s not just about speed; it’s about efficiency. With performance wheels, every pedal stroke takes you further, making your ride not just fast but effortlessly so. The Weight Factor Lighter wheels are a game-changer, especially when it comes to acceleration and climbing. It’s like shedding extra weight without having to give up your guilty pleasures. This reduction in rotational weight means you can pick up speed quicker and tackle those daunting hills with a bit more ease. It’s akin to giving your bike a dose of energy drink, ready to “zipp” through streets and trails with newfound fitness. Strength and Durability: Tough as Nails, Light as Feathers & Built to Last When we talk about high-quality wheels, we’re not just referring to their performance in terms of speed and weight. These wheels are also robust warriors of the road. They are designed to withstand the challenges of harsh terrains, from rocky trails to potholed city streets. It’s like having a trusty sidekick that’s ready to brave any adventure with you. Material Matters The dilemma between choosing carbon fiber and aluminum rims is like picking between a sports car and a luxury sedan. Both are excellent choices but serve different purposes. Carbon fiber rims offer that high-performance, racing-edge feel, while aluminum rims provide a blend of durability and performance, suitable for a variety of riding styles. Handling Like a Pro Ever noticed how some bikes seem to corner with razor-sharp precision? That’s often down to the quality of the rims. Higher-quality rims offer improved stiffness, which translates to better handling and stability. It’s like having a bike that intuitively understands your every move, making those sharp turns and technical maneuvers feel more natural and controlled. Cornering Confidence Stiffer wheels mean better handling, especially in tight corners. It’s like having a reliable co-pilot who knows every twist and turn. Smooth Operator Better wheels mean less road vibration, leading to a smoother ride. It’s akin to upgrading from a standard office chair to a luxurious recliner. The Bling Factor: Look Good, Feel Good Aesthetic Appeal Let’s not forget the aesthetic appeal of a beautiful set of rims. They add a touch of elegance and style to your bike, making it stand out in a crowd. It’s like giving your bike a personal signature, a reflection of your style and personality. The Psychological Edge: Mind Over Matter Confidence Booster Riding with a set of top-notch wheels isn’t just about the physical benefits. It’s also about the psychological edge it gives you. There’s a sense of confidence and pride that comes with knowing you’re riding with some of the best equipment. This mental boost can often translate into better performance, as you feel more motivated and empowered on your rides. The Envy Effect And then, there’s the envy factor. Pull up at your local riding group or a coffee stop with a set of flashy, high-performance rims, and you’re likely to turn heads. It’s a great conversation starter and a way to spark a bit of healthy competition among fellow cyclists. Long-Term Investment: Worth Every Penny Resale Value Upgrading to quality rims is a wise investment in your cycling passion. Not only do they enhance your riding experience, but they also maintain their value over time. It’s like investing in a piece of timeless art – it not only brings you joy but also holds its worth. Cost-Effective Performance Boost Wheel upgrades are a more economical choice for performance enhancement compared to buying a new bike. You would be amazed at how much of a difference a good set of wheels will make on just about any frame, it’s actually quite shocking! The Benefits of Better Bearings: Rolling Smoothly Reduced Friction Upgraded bearings in high-quality wheels offer reduced friction, which means smoother rolling and less effort on long rides. It’s like having a pair of well-oiled gears in a machine, ensuring seamless operation. Increased Longevity Better bearings are not only smoother but also more durable. They can withstand harsh conditions and last longer, saving you from frequent replacements. It’s like investing in a high-quality appliance that promises longevity and reliability. Enhanced Precision Precision-engineered bearings provide better wheel alignment and stability. This precision ensures that your wheels turn more accurately, improving your bike’s responsiveness. It’s akin to having a finely tuned instrument that hits the right notes every time. Easy Maintenance High-quality bearings often require less maintenance. They are designed to resist wear and tear, making your life easier. It’s like having a low-maintenance garden that remains beautiful with minimal effort. The Ultimate Upgrade: Making the Decision Suit Your Riding Style Whether you’re a sprinter, a climber, or an all-rounder, there’s a wheelset out there that’s perfect for you. It’s all about finding that ideal match that complements your riding style and enhances your strengths. Read MoreWhy Every Road Cyclist Should Switch to Tubeless Tires – No More "Tired" Excuses!
No More “Tired” Excuses! Are you still using tubes? Ever wondered why your cycling buddy is breezing past you on those downhills? Spoiler alert: It’s not just the extra espresso in their bidon. It might be their tubeless tires! In this post, we’ll dive into why upgrading to tubeless tires could be the best decision you make for your road bike. “Changing a bike tire is a test of patience, skill, and how many new curse words you can invent in a single afternoon…” The Tubeless Triumph – Less Weight, More Speed Benefits of tubeless tires for road cycling Tubeless tires are the secret weapon for those looking to lighten their load. By ditching the inner tubes, you’re not just shedding weight; you’re gaining speed and agility. It’s like shedding that backpack you used in high school – suddenly, everything feels faster and easier! Puncture-Proof? Almost There! Puncture resistance and tubeless tires One of the biggest game-changers with tubeless tires is their ability to resist punctures. Thanks to the self-sealing nature, those pesky mid-ride stops become a rarity. Imagine a world where punctures are a distant memory. No, it’s not a cyclist’s utopia; it’s just a tubeless tire! Smooth Sailing on Rough Roads Muc-Off Ultimate Tubeless Kit Learn more Dynaplug Pill Tubeless Tire Puncture Repair Kit Learn more Learn more Road bike comfort with tubeless tire advantages Ever dreaded those rough road patches? How about the miles of chip seal that leave your brain buzzing from the vibration? Tubeless tires come to the rescue with improved shock absorption. Your local cobblestone road suddenly feels less like a jackhammer workout and more like a smooth glide. The added bonus is being able to run a lower tire pressure also decreases rolling resistance, which gets you rolling even faster! More Grip, More Grins Enhanced grip and handling with tubeless tires Enhanced grip and superior cornering are where tubeless tires truly shine. They make you feel like a superhero on those bends (but remember, capes are still a no-go for safety!). This really comes in handy on those wet rides where you can really benefit from that extra surface contact area that ultimately keeps the rubber side down! Saving Time and Money: The Economic Genius of Going Tubeless Avoiding the hassle and cost of changing tubed flats Switching to tubeless tires is not just a performance upgrade; it’s a wise economic choice too. Let’s face it, time is money, especially when you’d rather be pedaling than patching up punctures. Changing a flat tire on a road bike can vary in time depending on the skill and experience of the cyclist, as well as the circumstances (like weather conditions, the type of puncture, and the tools available). For an average cyclist, the process typically includes several steps: stopping and assessing the situation, removing the wheel, replacing or patching the tube, putting the wheel back on, and inflating the tire. So, on average, it might take a cyclist anywhere from 12 to 25 minutes to change a flat tire on the side of the road. Experienced cyclists might do it faster, while those less familiar with the process could take longer. This estimation doesn’t account for potential complications like difficult tire/rim combinations or additional problems found during the process. Swapping out a flat tire is like eating a salad at a pizza party – it’s necessary sometimes, but nobody’s really happy about it! Fewer Flats, Fewer Frustrations: With tubeless tires, the frequency of flats plummets, thanks to their self-sealing technology. This means less time spent on the roadside with a repair kit and more time cruising on your bike. Long-Term Savings: Think about the cost of tubes, patches, and sometimes even professional repairs. How man flats have you had in the past year? How much did you pay for the tubes, patches, and CO2? Over time, these expenses add up. Tubeless tires might have a higher upfront cost, but they save you money in the long run by drastically reducing these recurrent expenses. Imagine a world where your wallet stays closed, and your bike stays on the road. With tubeless tires, you’re not just saving air; you’re saving dollars and sanity! What’s the downside to going Tubeless? While tubeless tires offer many benefits for road cyclists, they also come with some downsides. It’s important to weigh these cons against the pros when considering the switch: Initial Setup and Installation Complexity: Setting up tubeless tires can be more complex and time-consuming than traditional tubed tires. It often requires specific rims, a tubeless-ready tire, a sealant, and a special valve and rim tape. The initial installation might also require a high-volume pump or a compressor to seat the tire correctly on the rim. Messy Sealant: The use of liquid sealant in tubeless tires can be messy, especially during installation or when you have to refill it. This sealant also needs to be topped up or replaced periodically, as it can dry out over time. Higher Upfront Costs: Tubeless tires and the necessary setup components (like compatible rims and sealant) can be more expensive initially than standard tires and tubes. Difficulty in Sealing Larger Punctures: While tubeless tires are great for small punctures, larger cuts or holes may not seal properly, potentially requiring a tire plug or even a new tire. Variability in Tire and Rim Compatibility: Not all tires and rims are compatible with tubeless setups, so it’s crucial to ensure that your equipment is suitable for a tubeless configuration. Potential for Air Loss: Tubeless tires can sometimes lose air more quickly than tubed tires, requiring more frequent pressure checks and top-ups. Learning Curve: There’s a bit of a learning curve for those new to tubeless tires, particularly in understanding how to handle and repair them, both at home and on the road. Limited Choices in Certain Tire Types: While the variety is growing, there may still be fewer choices in tubeless tires compared to traditional clinchers, especially in certain sizes or specific tire types. Considering these factors can help in making an informed decision about whether tubeless tires are the right choice for your cycling needs. So, is Tubeless for You? While there are some downsides to using tubeless tires on a road bike, the advantages often outweigh these cons for many cyclists. Here’s a breakdown of why the pros are generally seen as more significant: Puncture Resistance and Self-Sealing Nature: This is arguably the biggest advantage. The ability of tubeless tires to seal small punctures automatically means fewer stops for flats and more uninterrupted riding. This benefit alone can be a game-changer for many cyclists, particularly those who ride in areas prone to thorns, glass, or other debris. Improved Ride Quality and Performance: Tubeless tires can be run at lower pressures without the risk of pinch flats, which results in a smoother ride over rough surfaces and better traction. This translates into improved comfort, better grip, especially in corners, and potentially faster ride times. Weight Savings: Eliminating the inner tube reduces overall wheel weight, which can contribute to a lighter bike and a more responsive ride. In cycling, where every gram can matter, this is a significant advantage. Long-term Durability and Cost-Effectiveness: While the initial setup cost for tubeless tires is higher, they can be more economical in the long run. The reduced frequency of punctures means fewer tubes to replace and less money spent on repair kits. Additionally, the ability to repair small punctures extends the life of the tire. Greater Choice and Availability: As tubeless technology becomes more popular, the range of options and availability is increasing. This growth in the market means more choices in terms of tire types, sizes, and price points, making it easier for cyclists to find a tubeless setup that suits their needs. Advancements in Technology and Ease of Use: The technology behind tubeless tires and their accessories is continuously improving, making them easier to install, maintain, and repair. This evolution is gradually reducing many of the initial drawbacks associated with tubeless systems. While the setup and maintenance of tubeless tires can be more complex and there’s a learning curve involved, many cyclists find that the benefits in terms of performance, comfort, and reduced maintenance needs more than compensate for these challenges. Each cyclist’s decision will depend on their specific riding conditions, preferences, and priorities, but for many, the shift to tubeless offers a significant and tangible improvement in their riding experience. Ready to let some air out of those old tubes and join the tubeless revolution? Your road bike will thank you, and your riding buddies might just struggle to keep up! Why Every Cyclist Needs a Pair of Photochromic Glasses: The Ultimate Game-Changer We’ve seen and used just every gadget and gizmo that promises to revolutionize your ride, but revolutionary might be a bit of a stretch. But sometimes, it’s the simplest upgrades that make the most difference and end up being something that you didn’t even know you needed. Enter: photochromic glasses. Imagine cruising down the trail, the sun playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. One minute you’re squinting into the sunlight, the next you’re peering through shadows. It’s like a strobe light party, and not the fun kind. That’s where photochromic glasses come in, adapting faster than your mood on a Monday morning. The Magic of Auto-Adjustment These marvels of eyewear technology are the chameleons of the cycling world. They shift their tint like a mood ring, giving you the perfect balance of shade and clarity, no matter if you’re facing the blinding midday sun or the dim light of dusk. This isn’t just convenient; it’s a lifesaver—literally. Say Goodbye to UV Rays We cyclists have enough to worry about with potholes and those pesky squirrels that think playing chicken is a fun pastime. Thankfully, photochromic glasses filter out those sneaky UV rays, protecting your peepers and letting you focus on the ride ahead. They’re like sunscreen for your eyes, and let’s face it, you’re probably not slathering SPF on your eyelids. The Convenience Factor I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen riders stop mid-trail to swap out glasses, or worse yet, remove my glasses because I just can’t see because my glasses are too dark. Riding without glasses just isn’t an option for me as I’ve been pinged in the eye before and it was not pleasant. With photochromic glasses, those pit stops are a thing of the past, you can see what is in front of you, and your eye are always protected. They’re the one-size-fits-all solution in an often overly complicated gear-centric sport. Enhancing Your Vision With these bad boys, you can spot a pothole from a mile away or catch the glint of a car’s windshield as it approaches a cross street. It’s like having super-vision, which, unless you’re a superhero in disguise, is probably a step up from your natural abilities. Comfort for the Long Haul Long rides can turn your eyes into a dry, tired mess. Photochromic glasses keep the wind and dust out and the moisture in, so you can keep your eyes on the prize without feeling like you’ve just crossed the Sahara. Ready for Anything These glasses are like the Swiss Army knives of cycling eyewear. Sun, cloud, rain, or the occasional bug swarm—photochromic glasses have you covered. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to look like a pro while being pelted by nature? Above are my personal 100% S2 Photochromic glasses that I have personally been wearing for the last 3 plus years. One thing is for sure, I’ve put these things through the wringer and they are still serving me well to this day! They have seen rain, mud, snow, extreme heat, gravel, road, single track, small rocks, and the likes of my gear bag while unprotected. All this, and they are still getting it done! Tough as Nails We’ve all had that moment of horror when our expensive sunglasses go flying off our faces. But photochromic lenses are often made with durability in mind. They can take a hit, which is more than I can say for my thighs after a day of climbing hills. Fashion Meets Function Let’s not skirt around the fact that looking good is part of the fun. With a range of styles, these glasses ensure that you won’t have to compromise your look for functionality. Because let’s face it, we all want to look like the lead in a cycling action movie. A Wallet-Friendly Choice In a sport where you can easily spend more on gear than on a small car, photochromic glasses are a breath of financial fresh air. They eliminate the need for multiple pairs, so you can save those pennies for a rainy day (or a new bike). The Bottom Line: Safety But here’s the serious bit: safety is paramount. Photochromic glasses help you dodge what you can see and react swiftly to what you can’t. They’re not just about comfort and convenience; they’re a critical piece of safety equipment. Now, if you’re thinking, “But wait, I already have sunglasses,” let me ask you this: Do your sunglasses adapt to the light, protect your eyes, save you time, enhance your vision, maximize comfort, brave the elements, resist impact, make you look cool, save you money, and potentially save your life? If the answer is no, it’s time to switch gears. So there you have it, friends. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a commuter, or someone who mistakenly thinks a double century ride sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday, photochromic glasses are the upgrade you didn’t know you needed. They’re the trusty sidekick to your two-wheeled adventures—the Robin to your Batman, the Chewbacca to your Han Solo. In the end, photochromic glasses are more than a mere accessory; they’re a necessity, blending the line between safety gear and magic. So ride on, my friends, and let your glasses do the thinking for you. Because the only thing you should be worrying about is how to explain to your partner why you need another bike. Trust me, photochromic glasses are the easiest sell you’ll ever make. Have questions? Need help? Contact Us!
