The Scott Dropout Addict is the factory replacement derailleur hanger for Scott Addict road frames, supplied in a single size that covers every Addict frame size. It is the OEM part rather than an aftermarket copy, which matters more on hangers than on almost any other component, because a hanger that sits even slightly out of alignment will never let a rear derailleur index cleanly no matter how much you fiddle with the barrel adjuster.

A derailleur hanger is built to be the sacrificial link in the system. When the derailleur takes a hit, whether from a crash, a fall in the parking lot, or a shift that drops the chain into the spokes, the hanger bends or snaps so the frame does not. Does one size really fit every Addict?

Yes, within the Addict road platform. Scott supplies this hanger as a single size across all Addict frame sizes. It does not cross over to other Scott platforms such as Scale, Spark, or Genius, which use their own dropout designs. If your bike is not an Addict, this is not your hanger.

How do I know my hanger is bent?

The usual sign is shifting that will not index properly across the cassette no matter how you adjust cable tension, often worse at one end of the range. A hanger alignment gauge confirms it. If the bike has been down on its drive side, assume the hanger took the hit until proven otherwise.

Can I straighten a bent hanger instead of replacing it?

To get home, yes. As a permanent fix, no. Aluminum that has been bent and bent back is fatigued and will fail again, usually under load at the worst possible moment. Straighten it to finish the ride, then fit a new one.
