What Does the Shimano Ultegra R8170 Di2 Right Lever Control?

The Shimano ST-R8170 right lever is the rear brake and rear derailleur shift control for the 12-speed Ultegra Di2 hydraulic disc brake system, combining wireless electronic shifting with SERVO-WAVE hydraulic braking in a single ergonomically refined lever body. Wireless Di2 connectivity eliminates the shift cable entirely between lever and rear derailleur, sending commands via Bluetooth LE through the BT-DN300 battery to the RD-R8150. The redesigned hood profile with its raised peak improves grip and comfort across long rides, and the HYPERGLIDE+ chainring and rear derailleur system enables clean shifts under full pedaling load. Reach and free stroke are adjustable for custom fit.

Pairs with the ST-R8170 left lever to form the complete Ultegra Di2 12-speed hydraulic disc brake system. Works with the BR-R8170 flat-mount hydraulic disc caliper (sold separately or as a set). Compatible with SD300 satellite shifters for additional shift points in the drops or on the bar top. Synchro-Shift and Semi-Synchro-Shift modes configurable via the E-Tube Project app. Uses CR1632 coin cell battery with approximately 1.5 to 2 years of life. Right lever only -- sold individually.
