Tailwind High Carb Fuel is purpose-built for your hardest days — high-intensity racing, criteriums, fast group rides, and efforts where you need to sustain maximum output and 50g of carbohydrates per hour is not enough. Each single-serve packet delivers 360 calories and 90g of carbohydrates in the scientifically validated 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio, using three carbohydrate sources (dextrose, maltodextrin, and fructose) to maximize absorption and minimize GI distress at high intake rates. Tailwind Nutrition launched High Carb Fuel in April 2025, backed by direct input from elite athletes including triathlete Paula Findlay, cyclists Christopher Blevins and Sarah Sturm, and multi-sport athlete Eric Lagerstrom. Each serving also provides 680mg of sodium and 90mg of potassium for complete electrolyte support.
Available in two flavors: Lemonade and Ginger Lime. The Ginger Lime formula uses organic ginger extract, which supports digestion — a meaningful benefit at the higher carbohydrate concentrations High Carb Fuel demands. Mix one packet into 16 to 24 oz of water and sip steadily over one hour. Important note: most athletes need a gut-training ramp-up period of several weeks before hitting 90g of carbohydrates per hour. Tailwind recommends starting with one packet over 90 minutes in week one and building gradually. Jumping straight to full-concentration use without gut adaptation increases the risk of GI distress. Gluten-free, vegan, dairy and soy free. Not compatible with stacking alongside gels or other Tailwind products — High Carb Fuel is designed to max out carbohydrate absorption on its own.
