Built for road feet that other shoes fail: the Lake CX242
The Lake CX242 is the culmination of Lake's experience building shoes for riders who cannot find a road shoe that fits. Instead of one continuous upper, it uses a segmented six-zone construction where support is distributed across separate panels, so the shoe wraps around bunions, bony prominences, high insteps, and wide forefeet while reducing pressure across the instep. NuFoam padding cushions sensitive spots, and Carbitex carbon fiber stabilizer panels keep the structure solid without hard edges. Two BOA Li2 dials handle closure with micro-adjustment in both directions.
Underneath sits a full carbon fiber sole for elite stiffness and power transfer, built on Lake's Competition last whose wider base platform improves stability without fitting like a traditional wide shoe. By design the CX242 feels a touch less locked-in across the top than a race-tight shoe like the CX239, trading that for adaptability and all-day comfort on long rides. It runs a 3-bolt road cleat pattern for Shimano SPD-SL, Look, and compatible pedals. This is the Regular width in Black and Silver, and if your feet have defeated every other brand, this is the shoe we point you to first.
