The CX242 uses a segmented six-zone upper instead of the CX239's continuous one-piece closure. Support is spread across independent panels, so you can relieve pressure on a sensitive spot without loosening the rest of the shoe. That makes it more adaptable for difficult feet, though less aggressively locked-in across the top than the CX239. Both share the Lake Competition 100% carbon sole and dual BOA Li2 dials.

How does the CX242 mold to my foot?

Two ways. The six independent upper zones conform and fine-tune around the contours of your foot as you tighten the dials. Separately, the heel counter is heat-moldable: a shop can warm it in about ten minutes to set a precise heel shape that eliminates slip. The upper panels themselves are not heat-molded; their adaptability comes from the segmented construction.
