FAQ

Can I use a standard Eagle PowerLock on a T-Type Flattop chain?

You can physically install it, but it is not the correct connector for Flattop chains. A standard PowerLock outer plate is taller than the machined flat outer plates on a Flattop chain, which creates a surface discontinuity at the link joint that can disrupt chain-to-system engagement and reduce shift quality. Use the Flattop-specific connector link for full system compatibility.

Why does opening require chain link pliers?

The T-Type PowerLock Flattop Connector Link was redesigned with stronger engagement between the two link halves compared to previous PowerLock generations. This is intentional — a connector link that releases too easily under hard pedaling loads or under-load shifting could cause a dropped chain at a critical moment. Chain link pliers (or equivalent) are required for removal.

Does this link work on non-Transmission Eagle builds?

It is only correct for T-Type Flattop chains. Non-Transmission Eagle chains use standard Eagle PowerLock links, not the Flattop version. If you are running a non-T-Type Eagle drivetrain, use the standard Eagle PowerLock link instead.

Best For

Riders running any SRAM Eagle T-Type Transmission drivetrain who need the correct Flattop connector link for chain installation or replacement, sold as a 4-pack for multiple service intervals.
