What sets the SRAM Force XPLR Power Meter apart from dual-sided?

The SRAM Force XPLR AXS power meter lives inside the DUB spindle rather than in the spider or the chainrings. It uses Quarq measurement to read your left leg and doubles that figure for total watts, and that is the real trade in this crankset: a single-sided reading in exchange for a lighter package and far longer run time than a spider unit. Because the sensor sits in the spindle, the power meter does not care which chainring you run, so swapping ring sizes leaves the measurement untouched. Readings hold to within +/-1.5%.

The crankset pairs carbon arms with a 42t direct mount X-SYNC chainring and works with 12 and 13-speed XPLR drivetrains. It uses a DUB Wide spindle, so it needs a DUB Wide bottom bracket matched to your frame shell, sold separately. SRAM's fitment rule matters here: XPLR cranks belong on frames with chainstays of 415 mm and longer, and road cranks on frames at 414 mm and below. The AAA lithium battery is user-replaceable and good for over 400 hours of riding.

Does the Force XPLR AXS power meter measure both legs?

No. The Force XPLR AXS power meter is spindle-based and measures left leg power only, then doubles it to report total watts. If your legs produce noticeably different power, a dual-sided system will report your total more precisely.

How is this different from the SRAM Force AXS E1 power meter crankset?

They use different power meters. The Force AXS E1 2x crankset measures at the spider and reads both legs, running a CR2032 battery for roughly 200 hours. This Force XPLR Wide crankset measures in the DUB spindle, reads the left leg only, and runs an AAA lithium battery for over 400 hours. The XPLR version is the 1x gravel crankset, the 2x version is the road one.

Can I change chainring size without affecting the power meter?

Yes. Because the sensor is housed in the DUB spindle rather than the spider or chainring, the power meter works with any compatible chainring setup. Swapping from the 42t to another direct mount ring does not change the measurement or require recalibration of the unit.

What bottom bracket does the Force XPLR Wide crankset need?

It requires a DUB Wide bottom bracket matched to your frame's shell standard and width, and the bottom bracket is sold separately. A standard DUB bottom bracket is not the correct part for a Wide crankset.

Will the Force XPLR crankset fit my gravel frame?

SRAM specifies XPLR cranks for frames with chainstays of 415mm and longer, and road cranks for frames at 414mm and below. Measure your chainstay length before ordering, because the crank sets the chainline and the wrong choice affects shifting across the cassette.
