Where can I buy a Kask helmet near Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR?
Dialed Cycling Lab is an authorized Kask dealer for the Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR metro area. We are located at 3200 SE 164th Ave, Suite 105 in Vancouver, about 15 minutes from downtown Portland across the I-205 bridge. We stock the full Kask lineup in standard sizes. Walk-ins welcome, or call (360) 828-1436 to confirm a specific model and colorway is on the shelf.
Which Kask helmet should I buy?
Depends on your riding. For racing or going fast on road, Elemento (most aero), Utopia Y (aero plus ventilation), or Protone Icon (the most-worn helmet in the pro peloton). For everyday road, Mojito 3 (the value pick most riders own) or Sintesi (entry road, most colorways). For gravel and mixed terrain, Caipi (light off-road) or Wasabi (road helmet with all-weather adjustable vent). For trail and enduro MTB, Rex. For time trial and triathlon, Bambino Pro. We help spec the right one in about 10 minutes in-shop.
Protone Icon vs Utopia Y vs Elemento - what is the difference?
Three different priorities. Elemento is the flagship aero road helmet, designed for pure speed with aerodynamic testing first and ventilation second. Utopia Y pushes aerodynamics further than Protone but stays well-ventilated for long rides; it is the choice for elite road cyclists who prioritize speed without sacrificing comfort. Protone Icon is the most worn helmet in the pro peloton because it balances aero, ventilation, and fit better than any other Kask, with the largest colorway selection. For a UAE-style aero look, pick Utopia Y or Elemento. For all-around performance, pick Protone Icon.
Mojito 3 vs Sintesi - which value Kask should I get?
Both are accessible Kask helmets at a similar price point. Mojito 3 is the volume leader and has the longest track record. Sintesi has the most colorway variety in the entire Kask lineup (8 colors), including bright fluo options. Build quality and safety are equivalent, both Italian made, both WG11 tested. Pick Mojito 3 if you want the recognizable Kask shape that has been around for years. Pick Sintesi if a specific color matters to you.
Are Kask helmets safe? What about MIPS or WG11?
Kask helmets do not use MIPS. They use WG11, Kask's proprietary rotational impact protection system developed in their own Italian lab. The WG11 protocol exceeds the European CE EN 1078 baseline and the US CPSC standard, and is tested to standards more demanding than MIPS. The performance principle is the same: reduce rotational forces on the brain during angled impacts. The execution is different. Both protect against the same kind of crash. We can walk through the lab data in-shop if you want the deep dive.
Why are Kask helmets so expensive?
Italian manufacturing. Every Kask helmet is designed, engineered, tested, and built at the Kask factory in Chiuduno, Italy. No off-shored production, no licensed assembly. The Octo Fit retention system, WG11 protection, and pro tour pedigree all add cost. A Protone Icon at $300 is comparable to other premium road helmets like the Specialized S-Works Prevail or Lazer Vento. The Mojito 3 at $185 is the value pick in the lineup but still made in Italy.
How does Kask sizing run?
Kask runs slightly larger and more rounded than Specialized or Giro. The Octo Fit system has a wide range of adjustment so most riders can fine-tune the fit. Standard sizing: S (50-56cm), M (52-58cm), L (59-62cm). Bambino Pro and a few other models follow different sizing charts. We always recommend trying on in-shop if you are between sizes; same-day sizing help available.
Can I try on Kask helmets at your shop?
Yes, and we recommend it. We stock the most common models in standard sizes and colorways. Walk-ins welcome. If you want to try a specific model and color, call ahead at (360) 828-1436 to confirm we have it on the shelf. The right helmet feels invisible after 5 minutes on your head, the wrong one creates pressure points.
What is the warranty on a Kask helmet?
Two-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, not crash damage or normal wear. If your helmet is damaged in a crash, Kask offers a crash replacement program: bring or ship the damaged helmet to us with the original receipt, and you receive a discount on a replacement. We handle warranty claims directly with Kask so you do not have to chase support tickets.
How do I clean my Kask helmet?
Remove the inner padding (CoolMax or BlueTech), hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle, and air dry only. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. The outer shell wipes clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Never use solvents, alcohol, or harsh cleaners on the shell as they can degrade the polycarbonate layer. Replace pads every 2 to 3 years or sooner if they lose shape.
Are Kask helmets actually made in Italy?
Yes, every Kask cycling helmet is designed, engineered, and manufactured at the Kask factory in Chiuduno, Italy. This is verifiable: visit kask.com, check the country of origin labels, and Kask publicly posts factory tours. They are one of the few helmet brands at this price point that has not off-shored production to Asia. The factory employs hundreds of people in the Bergamo region.
Does Kask make a gravel-specific helmet?
Not a dedicated gravel-only model, but several Kask helmets work well for gravel. Caipi is positioned as light off-road and crosses cleanly between gravel and XC mountain biking. Wasabi is technically a road helmet but with its adjustable vent system and extended coverage, many gravel riders prefer it. Protone Icon and Mojito 3 are also commonly run on gravel by riders who prioritize aero or ventilation over off-road coverage. Kask's site classifies Protone Icon, Valegro, and Defender as Gravel-capable.
Is the Bambino Pro overkill for amateur time trials?
For most amateur TT and triathlon riders, no - Bambino Pro is the right choice and the most common amateur TT helmet in the country. It is what most UCI World Tour TT specialists wear, but the price point ($380) and feature set scale down well to club racing and Ironman triathlon. If you do 2 or more TTs or triathlons a year, Bambino Pro is worth it. For one-off events, a more affordable aero road helmet (Utopia Y or Elemento) is sufficient.
Do you stock all the colorways shown on Kask's website?
We stock the most popular colorways in the most popular models. Stock rotates with seasonal demand. We typically carry Black, Black Matte, and White in most models, plus 2-3 statement colors per model (Lavender Matt in Protone Icon, Grape in Utopia Y, Orange Fluo in Mojito 3, etc.). For a specific colorway not in stock, we can usually order in 5 to 7 business days. Call (360) 828-1436 to check.

Why Kask earns our PNW recommendation
The Technology
What makes Kask different
The engineering decisions behind every Kask product. Real differences, not marketing.
WG11 rotational impact protection
Kask's proprietary rotational impact protection system, developed in their Italian lab. Tested to standards more demanding than the European CE EN 1078 baseline. Same protection principle as MIPS, executed differently.
Manufactured in Italy
Every Kask helmet is designed, tested, and manufactured at the Kask factory in Chiuduno, Italy. No off-shored production. Quality control happens under one roof.
Octo Fit retention system
Kask's eight-point retention system distributes pressure around the entire head instead of two contact points. Translates to all-day comfort on long rides where lesser systems develop hot spots.
Worn by the pro peloton
Tadej Pogacar wears Kask exclusively. INEOS Grenadiers helped develop both the Protone Icon and Valegro. Not a sponsorship decision: riders choose what works.
