What is the Challenge Gravel Grinder TLR built for?

The Gravel Grinder is Challenge's tire for cruising gravel at speed, with more cornering confidence when the ground turns soft or wet. A diamond center tread clears dirt and mud and grips on grass and sand, while wide-spaced side knobs hook into soft ground and help guide the tire through ruts. The mixed tread rolls well and gives you a bit more cornering grip than a pure fast-rolling pattern.

This is the 700 x 42 version with black sidewalls, the widest Gravel Grinder TLR Challenge makes. It comes from Challenge's RACE series, which is vulcanized: a lightweight 60 TPI nylon casing, Challenge's SMART-V compound, and a PPS puncture protection layer between the tread and the casing. It is tubeless ready and compatible with hooked rims only. Challenge recommends its Smart Tubeless Sealant for setup.

No. Challenge lists this vulcanized Gravel Grinder TLR as hooked rim compatible. Challenge's hookless-compatible tires are the Getaway RACE series TLR, its handmade TLR tires from 33 to 45C, and the Criterium RS TLR.

How is it different from the Gravel Grinder Pro Handmade TLR?

Both use the same Gravel Grinder tread. This one is vulcanized with a 60 TPI nylon casing. The Pro is handmade with a 260 TPI Super Polyester casing, Challenge's SMARTplus compound and PPS2 protection, and it is hookless compatible.
