PolyX Breaker is a layer of extremely resistant polyester fiber woven tightly crosswise under the tread. The high fabric density makes it very resistant to punctures and foreign bodies, and it does this without hurting rolling resistance.
What does the DuraSkin sidewall add?
DuraSkin is a high-quality polyamide fabric that protects the casing and sidewall against cuts and abrasions in the harshest conditions, from curb strikes on messenger bikes to long touring miles. It is why the Gatorskin holds up where other tires wear out.
Is the Black Edition different from the standard Gatorskin besides the sidewall?
No. The Black Edition is a cosmetic designation with an all-black sidewall for a clean look on urban, road, and track builds. Construction and performance are the same as the standard Gatorskin.
Which size should I choose?
The 700x25 is lightest and fastest for road and fixed gear. The 700x28 adds comfort and grip for mixed road and commuting. The 700x32 offers the most cushion and durability for rough roads, loaded touring, and gravel-edged commutes.
