Garmin fenix 9 Pro Solar inReach
Weeks of battery and off-grid messaging in the fenix 9 Pro Solar inReach
The Garmin fenix 9 Pro Solar inReach pairs the longest runtime in the fenix 9 line with satellite and LTE radios built into the case. That buys two-way messaging, voice calling, and SOS routed to the staffed Garmin Response center with your phone left at home, on a watch that goes weeks between charges. An active inReach plan is required and is billed by Garmin, separately from the watch. The 47 mm runs up to 21 days in smartwatch mode and the 51 mm up to 30 days before solar input, and long daylight hours push both higher.
The display is the trade that makes the runtime possible. A memory-in-pixel panel is dimmer and lower resolution than AMOLED, and it is also easier to read in direct sun and far cheaper to keep lit. Everything else matches the Pro line: nano-molded titanium case under a sapphire lens, routable topographic maps on 64 GB of onboard memory, stamina zones and a stamina curve across a training block, an LED flashlight with a green mode, and QuickFit bands that swap by hand. Solar comes in 47 mm and 51 mm only, in a single titanium and pebble gray colorway. This is the watch for the rider whose routes run days from a charger and miles from a cell tower.
