What Is New About the Look KEO Grip Tri-Material Cleat?

The Look KEO Grip Cleat Tri-Material is Look's redesigned road cleat, and the changes target the two things riders actually complain about with cleats: creaking and walking. The front and rear grip zones are wider by a combined 2 cm, so you get real purchase on tile and pavement rather than skating across it. The bigger change is Silent Float, a low friction insert set into the rear of the cleat where it meets the pedal's rear engagement lever. Look says it smooths lateral movement, limits abrasion and wear, and cuts the chance of creaking.

Pick your float. Gray gives 4.5 degrees, the middle ground that suits most riders. Red gives 9 degrees, the one to reach for if you want more freedom of movement on longer rides. Both are polyamide and TPU with 4 mm of lateral and 9 mm of longitudinal adjustment, and a pair weighs 60 grams. Six 5 x 9 mm screws and six washers are in the box.

Will these fit my existing KEO pedals?

Keo Grip is the cleat Look lists for its KEO road pedals, including every KEO pedal we stock, from the Classic 3 to the Blade Ceramic Vision.

Should I choose gray or red?

Gray gives 4.5 degrees of float and is the middle option most riders get on with. Red gives 9 degrees for more freedom of movement. Look also makes a black 0 degree cleat for a fixed position, which we do not stock.

What is Silent Float?

Silent Float is a low friction insert at the rear of the cleat, right where it contacts the pedal's rear engagement lever. Look says it smooths lateral movement, limits abrasion and wear, and cuts down on creaking.

Is more float better?

It depends on your knees more than your speed. More float lets your foot move more through the stroke, which many riders find easier on the joints. If you want a fixed position with no float, that is Look's black 0 degree cleat, and the 4.5 degree gray is the closest option we stock.

Do the screws come with them?

Yes. Six screws at 5 x 9 mm and six washers come in the box.

How is this different from the older KEO Grip cleat?

The new Keo Grip widens the front and rear grip zones by a combined 2 cm and adds the Silent Float insert. Both changes target walking traction and cleat life.
