The 10mm x 1mm thread is the standard used on the vast majority of derailleur hangers across road, gravel, and mountain bike frames. If your derailleur does not thread in smoothly or sits at an off angle, damaged hanger threads may be the cause.
What does it mean to chase threads versus cutting new threads?
Chasing threads means running the tap through existing threads to clean them up, remove corrosion, and restore proper thread engagement without cutting new material. It is not the same as tapping a new hole. Use the TAP-10 carefully to avoid removing more material than necessary.
Do I need a specific Park Tool handle for the TAP-10?
The TAP-10 fits any standard tap handle. You do not need a Park Tool-specific handle. Use any conventional T-handle or adjustable tap handle sized for the 10mm shank.
