700 x 38 is a great all-around commuter and touring width that fits most hybrid and gravel-style frames. 700 x 45 adds extra volume and comfort for rougher pavement, light gravel, and longer tours where rider comfort matters most.
How does SmartGuard puncture protection work?
SmartGuard is a thick layer of highly elastic special rubber under the tread that absorbs and resists penetration from sharp objects like glass, thorns, and metal shards. It is the most effective puncture protection layer Schwalbe makes for non-tubeless tires.
Can I run this tire tubeless?
No. The Marathon Plus is a clincher tire that requires an inner tube. It is not tubeless ready. Use a 700x35-45 Schrader or Presta valve tube depending on your rim.
