What is the Shimano 105 FC-R7000 50t chainring built for?
This is the 50 tooth outer chainring for the Shimano 105 FC-R7000 crankset, the big ring in a 50-34T compact road setup. It is the genuine Shimano replacement, finished in black to match the R7000 crank, and it uses an aluminum and CFRP construction with shaped shift ramps and pins so front shifts stay fast and sure under power.
It mounts to the four-arm 110mm asymmetric bolt circle used across the R7000 crank family and is the MS type, paired specifically for the 50-34T combination. Built for 11-speed road drivetrains, it is the ring to reach for when an outer is worn, bent, or shifting poorly, and it pairs with the matching 34t inner ring for a full compact rebuild.

It is the genuine outer ring for the Shimano 105 FC-R7000 crankset in a 50-34T compact setup, mounting to the 4-arm 110mm asymmetric bolt circle shared across the R7000 crank family.
Will it work with a 53-39T crank?
No. This is the MS type tuned for the 50-34T combination and pairs with the matching 34t MS inner ring. A 53-39T crank uses the MW rings instead, so match the type to your existing setup.
Is it 11-speed specific?
Yes. It is built for 11-speed Shimano road drivetrains and works across the mechanical 105, Ultegra, and Dura-Ace families that share the R7000 crank interface.
