Overview
Why Is the Shimano CS-HG51 the Right 8-Speed Cassette for Alivio MTB Builds?
The Shimano CS-HG51-8 is an 8-speed MTB cassette built on Shimano's HYPERGLIDE platform, featuring specially positioned shift ramps and optimized tooth profiles for improved chain control and fast, responsive indexed shifting across all 8 cogs. Designed for 8-speed MTB drivetrains, the 11-28T range is well suited to moderate terrain where a tighter ratio delivers better cadence management without sacrificing a practical climbing range.
Compatible with all Shimano 8-speed MTB drivetrains including Alivio. Requires a standard Shimano 8-speed freehub body and an 8-speed chain.
