It fits Shimano 10-speed road drivetrains, but the 32T low cog needs a rear derailleur that can take it. Shimano lists the short cage Tiagra RD-4700-SS at a 28T maximum and the RD-4700-GS at 34T with a double crankset or 32T with a triple. Check your derailleur's maximum low sprocket before ordering.
What chain is recommended for the CS-HG500?
Use any Shimano 10-speed road chain such as the CN-HG95, CN-6701, CN-6600, or CN-4601 for optimal shifting performance.
Does the CS-HG500 require a 10-speed or 11-speed freehub body?
It fits a standard 10-speed freehub body. Shimano's 11-speed road freehubs, such as the FH-R7000, can also take a 10-speed cassette with an additional spacer.
