The BR-M6120 is compatible with Shimano hydraulic MTB brake levers using mineral oil, including BL-M6100, BL-M4100, and other Shimano mineral oil MTB levers. Do not use with DOT fluid systems.
What rotor sizes work with the BR-M6120?
The BR-M6120 post-mount caliper supports 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm rotors using appropriate post-mount adapters. Most riders run 180mm or 203mm to take full advantage of the 4-piston power capacity.
Is the BR-M6120 a significant upgrade from a 2-piston Deore caliper?
Yes. Four pistons provide meaningfully more pad contact and braking force than 2-piston designs, especially noticeable on longer, steeper descents where 2-piston calipers can feel less confident. The improvement is most apparent when paired with larger rotors.
