The Shimano Deore FD-M5100 Front Derailleur is built for 2x11-speed mountain drivetrains and uses Shimano's Side Swing design to deliver lighter shift action, improved cable routing, and better tire clearance on bikes with short chainstays or large wheels. The mid-clamp 34.9mm band mount ships with both 28.6mm and 31.8mm shims, covering 28.6, 31.8 and 34.9mm seat tubes. Front-pull cable routing keeps the cable path clean against modern frame designs and pairs natively with Shimano 11-speed mountain shifters.
Designed for a 36T maximum top chainring with a 66-69° chainstay angle window, and a chain line of 48.8/51.8mm depending on the frame setup. Shimano's compatibility chart pairs it with 2x11-speed SL-M5100, SL-M7000, SL-M8000 and SL-M9000 left shifters. Side Swing is Shimano's front derailleur architecture that pivots from the side of the seat tube rather than the top or bottom. The result is lighter shift action at the lever, cleaner cable routing on modern frames, and more tire clearance.
Will this fit my frame?
The mid-clamp 34.9mm band ships with both 28.6mm and 31.8mm shims, so it fits the three most common modern MTB seat tube diameters. Verify your frame uses a clamp-on mount (not direct mount or E-type) and that the chainstay angle falls between 66 and 69 degrees.
