The Shimano Deore XT SM-RT86 Disc Brake Rotor uses Shimano's ICE Technologies construction to fight the heat that causes brake fade on long, demanding descents. The rotor blade is a three-layer clad sandwich, stainless steel bonded to an aluminum core and capped with stainless steel again, which pairs the durability and powerful bite of steel with the light weight and heat dissipation of aluminum. A strong aluminum spider sheds even more heat and adds rigidity, so your braking stays consistent lap after lap.
A mud-shedding blade design keeps the braking surface clean in sloppy conditions, and the lower operating temperatures mean less fade, less noise, and longer brake pad life. This is a standard 6-bolt rotor sold individually, available in 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm to match your caliper setup and riding. Just confirm your frame and caliper adapters if you are changing rotor size. For trail, enduro, and all-mountain riders who push their brakes hard, the SM-RT86 is the proven XT-level upgrade.

ICE Technologies is Shimano's rotor cooling design. The braking surface is a sandwich of stainless steel outer layers bonded to an aluminum core, which pulls heat away from the braking surface. Lower temperatures mean less brake fade and longer pad and rotor life.
Is this rotor Center Lock or 6-bolt?
This is a 6-bolt rotor. It mounts to any 6-bolt hub using the standard bolt pattern and is not compatible with Center Lock hubs. Mounting bolts are typically included with the rotor.
Do I need a new adapter if I change rotor size?
Often, yes. Brake calipers are positioned for a specific rotor diameter, so going from 160mm to 180mm or 203mm usually requires a matching mount adapter. Check your frame and fork specs before changing size.
Is the rotor sold individually or as a pair?
Each SM-RT86 rotor is sold individually. If you are replacing both front and rear, or setting up a new bike, you will need to order the correct size for each wheel separately.
