Which Frames Need the Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 Italian Bottom Bracket?
The Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 Italian-threaded bottom bracket brings the flagship BB-R9100's advanced seal construction and small ball bearings to Italian 70mm threaded frames -- the threading standard found on many classic steel, titanium, and some carbon road frames from Italian and European manufacturers. Built on the Hollowtech II outboard bearing platform, it delivers the same smoother rotation and drivetrain efficiency as the English version, with the left and right cups both using right-hand threading per the Italian standard rather than the left-hand drive side thread of English BSA bottom brackets.
Italian threaded 70mm shell. Compatible with Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 and R9200 cranksets using the 24mm Hollowtech II axle, and mechanically compatible with all other Shimano road Hollowtech II cranksets on Italian 70mm threaded frames. Installation requires a Shimano TL-FC36 or equivalent Hollowtech II BB wrench -- note that Italian threading requires both cups to be threaded in (right-hand thread on both sides), different from English which has a left-hand thread on the drive side. For Dura-Ace riders with Italian-threaded frames, this is the correct OEM choice.
