The Shimano K05S-RX is the 5th-generation resin replacement pad for Shimano's current-generation road, gravel, and high-end MTB hydraulic disc calipers, covering Dura-Ace R9270, Ultegra R8170, 105 R7170, GRX RX810 and RX820, XTR M9100, Deore XT M8110, and the full range of RS-series road disc calipers. Built with 5th-generation resin friction material, the K05S-RX delivers 50% better wear resistance than the K03S and 110% better than the K02S, with less noise and improved modulation compared to older resin compounds. The finless design keeps the pad compact and compatible with the tight clearances of current-generation flat-mount road disc calipers.
The narrow type K pad shape uses a stainless steel back plate for rigid, corrosion-resistant pad support in road and gravel conditions where moisture exposure is common. Compatible calipers span the current Shimano road disc ecosystem including BR-R9270, BR-R8170, BR-R7170, BR-R9170, BR-R8070, BR-R7070, BR-4770, BR-RS805, BR-RS505, BR-RS405, BR-RS305, BR-U5000, BR-RX810, BR-RX400, BR-RX820, BR-M9100, BR-M9110, and BR-M8110. Each package includes one pair of pads with spring. Both pads share the same compatibility range for current Shimano road disc calipers. The K05S-RX has no radiator fin and a stainless back plate, while the L05A-RF includes an alloy radiator fin and alloy back plate. The K05S-RX is more compact; the L05A-RF dissipates more heat on long descents.
Will the K05S-RX fit my Shimano XTR M9100?
Yes. The K05S-RX fits the XTR BR-M9100 and BR-M9110, as well as the Deore XT BR-M8110. These are the current 2-piston XTR and XT caliper models released with the M9100 and M8100 series groupsets.
Does this pad include a spring?
Yes. Each package includes one pair of K05S-RX pads with the retaining spring included.
