How is cantilever pad alignment different from V-brake adjustment?

Cantilever brakes require the pad to contact the rim braking surface squarely, without overlapping the tire or the rim edge, and the pad height and toe-in angle must be set carefully because cantilever geometry amplifies any misalignment into noise or uneven wear. Take time with alignment on initial installation.

Are these shoes compatible with carbon rims?

No. The M65T pad is formulated for standard aluminum rim braking surfaces only. Do not use on carbon rims.
