Weight and bearing quality. At 58 grams this is the lightest press-fit bottom bracket Shimano makes for a 41 mm shell, 18.5 grams lighter than the SM-BB91-41A it replaced, and about 10 grams under the Deore XT BB-MT800-P. It also carries a revised seal construction that Shimano built for smoother rotation without giving up weather protection, which is the trade most lightweight bottom brackets get wrong.

Fitment is identical to the XT unit: a 41 mm press-fit shell at 89.5 mm or 92 mm width, with 24 mm Hollowtech II spindle compatibility that also covers FSA MegaExo, Race Face EXI, and Surly OD cranks. Three 2.5 mm spacers are included for setting chainline across shell widths. This is the XTR M9000 series part, so it is the one to buy if you are building light and want the bearing to last more than a season. Installation needs a press and removal needs a bearing puller.

Measure your bottom bracket shell. If the inner diameter is 41mm and the width is 89.5mm or 92mm, this is the correct part. That combination is commonly labeled BB92. If your shell is threaded, you need the SM-BB93 instead.

Is it worth the step up from the Deore XT version?
