What makes the SILCA Chain Waxing System the right setup for a hot wax drivetrain?
The SILCA Chain Waxing System is a compact, purpose-built hardware kit for running a hot wax drivetrain at home. At its heart is an electric wax warmer with a PID temperature controller and a vented clear lid, designed to melt wax and hold it at a precise temperature so you can see when it is fully liquid and get deep, even penetration into the chain. SILCA uses a PID controller rather than a thermostatic one specifically to avoid the temperature overshoot a standard crock pot can cause, which protects the wax formula from overheating. The recommended workflow is to heat to 125C to melt fast, then drop to 75C for waxing.
The included drip stand and cable coupler let you loop the coupler's steel cable through your chain, dip and agitate it in the wax, then hang it to drain cleanly back into the pot, with no mess and no handling a pot of hot wax. The 600ml warmer handles a full chain soak. This kit is hardware only: wax is sold separately, so you choose the formula for your conditions, and it is the perfect companion for SILCA StripChip to prep and wax a new chain in a single step with no liquid degreasing.
