How Much Can the SILCA Mattone Grande Saddle Bag Actually Hold?
The SILCA Mattone Seat Bag Grande is the high-capacity version of SILCA's award-winning under-saddle bag. "Mattone" is Italian for brick, and the design is about as solid as that implies. The Boa Closure System dials the bag tight against your saddle rails with a single ratcheting dial that delivers more than 15 times the holding force of Velcro, and it will not creep or loosen under vibration. At 0.74L, the Grande holds three road tubes, two CO2 cartridges, two tire levers, and a multitool, or two 29x2.5-inch MTB tubes plus the rest of your kit. Almost twice the capacity of the original Mattone in the same clean, rattle-free form factor.
Weather-resistant shell sheds rain and road spray without absorbing water. Low-profile attachment fits standard round and aero seatposts without additional hardware. No bouncing, no swinging, no rattling. For long brevets, gravel epics, bikepacking, or anyone who rides far enough that one flat fix is not a complete plan, the Mattone Grande is the bag.
