What is the SILCA Mattone Grande built to carry?
The SILCA Mattone Grande is the high-capacity version of SILCA's award-winning under-saddle bag. "Mattone" is Italian for brick, and the design is about as solid as that implies. The BOA Closure System dials the bag tight against your saddle rails with a ratcheting mechanism that delivers more than 15 times the holding force of Velcro, and it will not creep or loosen under vibration. At 0.74L, the Grande holds three road tubes, two CO2 cartridges, two tire levers, and a multitool, or two 29x2.5-inch MTB tubes plus the rest of your kit.
A high-friction Hypalon strap handles secondary retention, and the bag closes with a YKK waterproof zipper. The bag stays high and tight under the saddle with no swinging, swaying, or rattling. For long brevets, gravel epics, bikepacking, or anyone who rides far enough that one flat fix is not a complete plan, the Mattone Grande is the bag.
