48mm Presta fit for shallow 650c rims in the Teravail Standard Tube

The Teravail Standard Tube - 650 x 20 - 28mm | 48mm Presta Valve is the butyl spare for 650c road, tri, and small-frame bikes on alloy or shallow-section rims. The 48mm stem clears a standard rim depth with room for a pump head, so the valve is easy to reach when you are fixing a flat at the side of the road. Teravail builds the Standard Tube line with a 0.9mm wall, which gives you a tube that holds road pressure without adding much weight to the wheel.

A removable Presta valve core means you can add sealant through the stem or replace a bent core instead of replacing the whole tube. It fits 650c tires from 20 to 28mm wide, so it covers narrow race tires and the 25 to 28mm widths most riders run now. 650c is the 571mm road size, not 650b, so check the sidewall before you buy. We keep this size on the shelf at the lab in both the 48mm and 60mm stem lengths because 650c tubes are hard to find on the day you need one. Choose this one for rims up to about 35mm deep and the 60mm version for deeper wheels.

No. The Teravail Standard 650c tube fits 571mm (650c) road wheels only. 650b, also sold as 27.5 inch, is 584mm and needs a different tube.

Is a 48mm Presta valve long enough for my 650c rim?

The 48mm Presta stem on the Teravail Standard 650c tube suits alloy and shallow rims up to about 35mm deep. For deeper rims, Teravail makes the same 650 x 20-28mm tube with a 60mm or 80mm stem.

Can I put sealant in the Teravail Standard 650c tube?
