Is the GnarWolf Braze-On Chainguide Right for Your 1x Bike?
The Wolf Tooth GnarWolf Chainguide Braze-On Mount is a 1x chainguide designed around wide/narrow chainrings. Wolf Tooth built it for maximum chain retention in the roughest gravel, CX, and road races, and also lists mountain biking as a use. It mounts to a frame's integral braze-on front derailleur mount. If your seat tube is round with no braze-on mount, Wolf Tooth sells a braze-on adapter.
The guide fits round and oval chainrings from 34T to 46T with infinite vertical adjustment. Wolf Tooth's GuideLock system gives 8mm of chainline adjustment, covering chainlines from about 45mm to 51mm with no shims. Every adjustment uses a 4mm hex key, and you can loosen one screw to flip the guide out of the way for chain removal without losing your settings. Wolf Tooth says no other gravel, road, or CX chainguide is as rigid or as easy to adjust.
The guide is 6061-T6 aluminum with stainless steel hardware and a glass filled nylon head, weighs 42g, and is made in the USA. It is for 1x use only, does not work with crankset mounted bashrings, and needs at least 10mm between the crank and the center of the ring. Braze-on mounts sit at different heights on different frames, so the largest chainring that fits varies by frame brand and model.

Do I need to remove my cranks to install it?
No. Wolf Tooth says installation takes a few minutes with no need to remove your crank arms.
Can I replace just the guide head?
Yes. Wolf Tooth sells GnarWolf Chainguide Heads separately, and they fit all rev1 and rev2 GnarWolf Chainguides. Every part of the chainguide is also sold as a replacement part.
