The defining feature is the mega-wide hookless rim, engineered specifically for the geometry of approved gravel racing tires to create a seamless tire-to-rim integration that improves aerodynamic efficiency on gravel surfaces. By increasing air volume through the wider profile, the 303 XPLR S allows lower tire pressures without squirm, absorbing surface vibrations and maintaining grip on technical climbs and loose corners.

Zipp lists the 303 XPLR S as compatible only with approved tires, and names the Goodyear XPLR Slick and Goodyear XPLR Inter as designed and optimized for it. Its mega-wide rim is shaped to integrate with approved gravel racing tires. Check the Zipp tire compatibility chart before mounting.
How does the 303 XPLR S differ from the 303 XPLR SW?
Both use a 54mm deep rim with a 32mm internal width for approved gravel tires. The 303 XPLR S uses Zipp 76/176 hubs, and the 303 XPLR SW uses the ZR1 Disc Brake hub with 66 points of engagement. Zipp says the S borrows key innovations from its premium wide gravel wheelset at a lower price.
Can I use the 303 XPLR S for road riding?
Zipp built the 303 XPLR S for gravel, and it works only with approved tires. Check the Zipp tire compatibility chart before you mount any tire.
