What Makes the Look KEO Blade Different From a Normal Road Pedal?
Most clipless pedals hold your cleat with a coil spring. Look replaced it with a carbon leaf spring, and that single change is the whole argument for the Blade system. A thin composite blade weighs less than a steel spring, sits flatter so the pedal cuts a cleaner aerodynamic profile, and flexes earlier in the release motion, which is why clipping out feels quicker and more predictable than the tension number suggests. The result is 115 grams per pedal on a carbon body with a Chromoly+ axle.
The platform is where you feel it on a long ride. A 705 mm2 contact surface across 64 mm of width, built from three stainless steel plates, spreads pressure evenly enough to keep hot spots away even in a stiff race shoe. Stack height is 14.8 mm with the cleat, so your foot sits close to the axle. Tension is not fixed either: blades come in 8, 12, 16, and 20 Nm and swap in under 30 seconds with one tool. Keo Grip cleats are included.
