What Is the Shimano SM-SH11 SPD-SL Yellow Cleat?
The SM-SH11 is Shimano's SPD-SL yellow road cleat with 6 degrees of float. It is the default cleat included with most Shimano road pedals and the most commonly used SPD-SL cleat in cycling. Six degrees of float lets the heel rotate laterally through that range before the cleat releases, accommodating natural variation in foot tracking during the pedal stroke and reducing knee stress for most riders. The yellow SM-SH11 is the correct starting point for any new SPD-SL setup and the right replacement when worn cleats need swapping on existing pedals.
Compatible with all Shimano SPD-SL three-bolt road pedals. Sold as a pair. The standard choice before considering the fixed SM-SH10 (0 degrees) or the SM-SH12 (2 degrees) for riders who need tighter engagement.

SM-SH11 yellow provides 6 degrees of float and is the default choice for most riders. SM-SH10 red is fixed with zero float for maximum positional control. SM-SH12 blue provides 2 degrees of float for riders who want a slightly more locked-in feel than yellow without going fully fixed.
Are SPD-SL cleats compatible with Look Keo pedals?
No. SPD-SL and Look Keo use different cleat body geometries. They are not interchangeable even though both are 3-bolt road systems.
How often should I replace SPD-SL cleats?
Shimano recommends replacing SPD-SL cleats when the yellow wear indicator lines are no longer visible on the bottom of the cleat. Worn cleats can disengage unexpectedly and should be replaced before they reach complete wear-through.
