It lets you run lower pressures for better grip and compliance, reinforces the sidewall against lateral loads while cornering, and if you flat, the foam keeps the tire on the rim so you can ride out for up to 25 km under control instead of stopping mid course.

Is the Air Liner Light XC tubeless only?: Yes. The Air Liner Light XC must be used with tubeless ready tires, multiway tubeless valves, and ammonia free sealant only. It is not compatible with inner tubes.

How does this compare to CushCore XC?: At 55 grams, the Air Liner Light XC is significantly lighter than CushCore XC, which is its main appeal for XC racers and marathon riders chasing rotational weight savings.
