Garmin Edge 1060: What's New and How It Compares

What's New, Specs and How It Compares

The Garmin Edge 1060 is Garmin's newest premium bike computer, at $799.99. It keeps the Edge 1050's 3.5 inch screen and battery life, adds a built-in microphone for hands-free voice control, and goes on sale October 23, 2026.

This post covers what is new, the full spec sheet, how it lines up against the Edge 1050, and how it compares with the Wahoo ELEMNT ROAM 3 and the Hammerhead Karoo. Every number comes from the brand's own site. A hands-on review and video will follow.

What is new on the Garmin Edge 1060?

The headline change is a microphone. Garmin built one into the Edge 1060 so you can control the unit by voice with both hands on the bars. You can also report a road hazard by voice, and send voice and text messages through the Garmin Messenger app on a paired phone.

The rest of the list is smaller, and it all checks out against Garmin's spec sheets. We lined the 1060 and 1050 sheets up row by row. These are the features Garmin lists for the 1060 and not for the 1050.

What the Edge 1060 adds over the Edge 1050

Voice
Built-in microphone

The Edge 1060 takes voice commands and records voice messages. Garmin notes voice commands work in select languages and can vary with riding conditions.

142 gvs 161 g
Lighter and shorter

The Edge 1060 weighs 142 grams to the Edge 1050's 161, and its body measures 58.5 by 107 mm against 60.2 by 118.5 mm. Both are 16.3 mm thick.

Routes
New routing tools

The Edge 1060 adds Free Flow routing, which looks for training routes with fewer stops, plus route options by time and bike type, Up Ahead points of interest and route preview metrics.

Power
Reverse charging

The Edge 1060 can charge a phone or a tail light in an emergency with a compatible USB-C cable. Garmin says it is not meant for charging while you ride.

How does the Edge 1060 compare to the Edge 1050?

Most of the spec sheet is identical. The screen is the same 3.5 inch, 480 by 800 pixel touchscreen. Battery life is rated the same, 20 hours in demanding use and 60 in battery save mode. Storage is 64 GB on both. Both have a built-in speaker, Garmin Pay, multi-band GNSS, SRAM AXS and Shimano Di2 integration, and the same core training and safety features, including real-time stamina, Power Guide, Smart Fueling, incident detection and LiveTrack.

What changes is the microphone and everything that runs through it, the routing tools listed above, alternate data fields, reverse charging, and a smaller, lighter body. Garmin's list price is $799.99 for the 1060 and $699.99 for the 1050.

Same screen, same battery. The Edge 1060 and Edge 1050 share a 3.5 inch 480 by 800 screen and the same 20 and 60 hour battery ratings, according to Garmin's spec sheets.

What the 1060 adds. A microphone for voice control and voice messages, Free Flow and other new routing tools, reverse charging, and 19 fewer grams.

For a rider who will not use voice control, the Edge 1050 offers the same screen and battery ratings for a lower list price.

SRAM integration. SRAM sells the Karoo, and it leans into SRAM's own parts: single sign-on with your SRAM account, automatic AXS sensor pairing, AXS battery management and controller programming, and a connection to RockShox Flight Attendant suspension. The Edge 1060 also lists SRAM AXS integration, along with Shimano Di2 Synchro Shift integration.

Radar. The Edge 1060 works with Garmin's Varia RearVue 820 and the rest of the Varia line. The ROAM 3 pairs with Wahoo's TRACKR RADAR. We compared those two radars in Garmin or Wahoo Radar? Start With Your Screen.
