Jin Daikoku

I used to run competitively but eventually too many recurring injuries sidelined me. While I’ll never beat any of my old running PRs, I can challenge myself and reach new personal bests on the bike while enjoying the company of my teammates out in group rides.

A few questions for Jin

How did you get into bike racing?

It was intimidating at first but witch such a strong local cycling scene I started with group rides and then decided to train for the Michael Myers Memorial Time Trial. From there I wanted to improve and felt motivated to continue.

What is your favorite race or ride, and why?

I enjoy Mt Tabor because it’s always intense from the start. At the same time every week is somehow different and tactics play a huge part. The vibe with the crowds is also very unique for a road race.

What rides and races are on your bucket list?

I want to climb the big peaks in the PNW such as Hurricane Ridge, Mt Baker, and Mt Ashland. I’d also love to do Mauna Kea someday.

Pre-race meal or ritual?

Rice and eggs
