What sets the Giro Gritter apart from other gravel and XC shoes?
The Giro Gritter Shoe - Black/Gold is Giro's lightweight off-road race shoe, built for riders who split their time between endless gravel roads and technical XCO courses. The foundation is a long-fiber carbon composite plate co-molded with Giro's Sensor rubber outsole, so the tread is bonded to the plate permanently with no glue line to peel. Giro tuned that plate stiff for power transfer, with enough forefoot flex that a steep hike-a-bike doesn't feel like walking on a board. Fit comes from a Dual Zone BOA Fit System with two Li2 machined aluminum dials that adjust in small clicks in both directions.
The upper is Giro's stitch-less Syncwire construction, a laminate of breathable ripstop and durable film with mono-filament mesh venting, reinforced at the toe and heel with Rock Print for the rocks and roots that chew up lesser shoes. Inside, the Supernatural footbed ships with low, medium, and high arch support chips so you can match it to your foot. It takes a standard 2-bolt mountain cleat and runs just as well under drop bars as flat bars. The Black/Gold colorway pairs a stealthy black shoe with gold dials, and it is made for the gravel racer or XC rider who wants one light, stiff shoe that still handles the walking parts.

What size Giro Gritter should I get?
The Giro Gritter is sized in EU numbers, and on Giro's size chart EU 42 equals US men's 9, EU 44 equals US men's 10.5, and EU 46 equals US men's 12. Half sizes from 43.5 to 45.5 help dial in length, and the Supernatural arch chips and dual BOA dials fine-tune the fit from there.
Is the Giro Gritter good for hike-a-bike?
The Giro Gritter handles hike-a-bike well for a carbon race shoe, because Giro tuned the plate with forefoot flex for walking and co-molded Sensor rubber to it for grip. Rock Print reinforcement at the toe and heel adds abrasion protection when you are scrambling over rocks.
What happens if a BOA dial on the Giro Gritter breaks?
The BOA dials and laces on the Giro Gritter are guaranteed for the lifetime of the shoe, so a broken dial or lace gets replaced under the BOA guarantee. Bring it by the Lab and we can help sort out the replacement.
