About Justin
HometownBremerton, WADCT since2022RacingMasters
La Center, WA-based rider and Dialed Cycling Team member since 2022. I retired from the Washington Air National Guard after 23 years of service, and these days I’m a project design manager for a medical device company. I came back to cycling in 2020 and have been hooked ever since. I split my time between cyclocross, gravel, and the occasional road or MTB outing, and I’m happiest on a bike with friends on a nice day. Off the bike, you’ll find me on the ice playing hockey, or with my wife and daughter.
A few questions for Justin
How did you get into bike racing?
Like a lot of people, I found cycling again during COVID. In spring 2020 I had a lot of free time, bought a mountain bike, and never looked back. The next year I picked up a road bike and kept crossing paths with Dialed riders, which got me connected with the team. My first race in team colors was the Michael Myers Memorial Time Trial, and I also raced some short track MTB that season. Then I bought a gravel bike and I’ve spent most of my time on it ever since.
What is your favorite race or ride, and why?
The Harvest Cross series, hands down (RIP). Cyclocross is my favorite discipline, and Harvest Cross had everything I love about it: the energy, the people, and some of the best scenery and courses. Hope to see this series return!
What is your favorite thing (or things) about the Dialed Cycling Team?
- The community, and the friends it’s introduced me to. Nothing beats getting out on the bike on a nice day with friends there to enjoy it with.
What is the best bike you've ever owned?
My Moots RSL. I can adapt it to handle just about anything I throw at it: cyclocross, gravel races, bikepacking, or pretending it’s a hardtail MTB. It’s the one bike that keeps up with every kind of riding I do.
